Ensuring TABS has full access to Location Services (Android)

Date: 12/15/2023 Catagory: Helpful Tips

We have noticed with newer versions of android, granting all required permissions for TABS does not always grant full access to location services. Location services are essential to the operations of TABS.

In the Apps settings for TABS, under grant permissions your phone should have location services, with the permission level of "Allow all the time". For most Android phones this will allow for location services within TABS.

How to tell if your location services are working properly in TABS

When TABS is open and you are currently clocked in, you should see two active tabs services in your notifications. These services are, Location Service, and Timer Service. If you only see the Timer service then your location services are being blocked by battery settings in your phone. Each phone manufacturer is has different setting for managing battery savings. Below are a few settings to check for Samsung.

Firstly from within the App settings for Tabs confirm that location services are set to "Allow all the time".

Secondly, select "Battery and device care" from your android settings menu. Then choose "Battery", finally choose "Power saving". Even if Power saving is off their are some sub-settings to review. Make sure that "Limit apps and Home screen" setting is set to off. Your location services for TABS should now work, you may need to close and re-open the app for these changes to take effect.
